RHI Premium Payments
Energy Saving Trust release news on uptake of RHI Premium Payments
Today the Energy Saving Trust used Twitter to announce details of payments made to homeowners under the Renewable Heat Incentive's Premium Payment scheme. Before the scheme opened on the first of August, the EST had received 3,000 expressions of interest. The majority of these enquiries related to Solar Thermal installations, however in the first week of the scheme the EST report that 36% of payment vouchers issued have been for Air Source Heat Pump installations. The next most popular renewable technology was solar thermal, with 29% of vouchers issued, Ground Source Heat Pump installers were issued with 21% of the total number of vouchers issued, followed by 14% of vouchers issued for the installation of Biomass boilers.
H & R SERVICES (OXFORD) LTD are optomistic that this interim financial incentive for installing renewable technologies will encourage more homeowners to consider improving the energy efficiency of their homes. In addition to the premium payment homeowners will be able to earn a tax free income from the Renewable Heat Incentive when it is introduced later next year. However, homeowners must use Microgeneration Scheme Approved products and installation companies to qualify for these incentives.
