Predictions that energy bills will rise by £500 a year by 2025
Average energy bills are predicted to rise due to the Government's carbon reduction targets
Just one day after the Government's announcement of the proposals for the fourth carbon budget, on 18th May 2011 uSwitch warned customers that "The Government's targets to cut carbon emissions in half by 2025 could cause average energy bills to increase by almost £500 a year" The average energy bills in UK homes has already reached £1,132 a year and uSwitch research suggests that energy bills could reach £1,600 within nine years.
