H & R Apprentice invited to represent college at SummitSkills 2011
Congratulations to H & R SERVICES' second year plumbing apprentice Greg Dewin who has be asked to represent Oxford and Cherwell Valley College at SummitSkills 2011. The aim of the event, which is due to take place at London's Excel next week, is to encourage young people to take up trades and showcases the expertise of employees in vocational careers.
It is estimated that 1,000 young people from over 50 countries will take part over four days in professional level competitions in 45 different skill areas. Within the construction, planning and built environment field there are 13 skills competitions which include areas as diverse as wall and floor tiling, plumbing and heating, electrical installations and stone masonry. The event takes place every two years in a different country or region. It is the vocational equivalent of the Olympics, and the 41st WorldSkills competition this year takes place at Excel London from 4 to 8 October 2011.
